Fri, 8 June 2007 ![]() 50 is nifty and we absolutely think so. Speaking of 50, 50 years ago in 1957 as part of our state's 50th year celebration of Statehood, they buried a 1957 Belevedere in downtown Tulsa. This was part of Tulsa's salute to our state's celebration part of an event called Tulsarama, they even had a Miss Tulsarama beauty pageant. The automobile was also used as a time capsule to be opened in 2007. Tulsan's placed various items in the trunk of the car such as oil, gas (in case we used a different form of fuel in the distant future), photos, the contents of a woman's purse, etc... The '57 Belevedere was wrapped in a protective blanket of sorts and lowered by crane into the enclosure, to be sealed up for all time, well ok, the State's Centennial...2007. That's all gonna be unearthed this week. While the crews start their grand dig you too can participate by simply digging this week's Hometown Heroes, unearthed just for you: My Solstice - Rock Bottom This Diabolicast Produced by Dustin Parkhurst for Diabolical Productions, LLC Comments[0] |
